Our schools need more money say Lib Dems

Lib Dem County Councillors have slammed the government for continuing to starve Gloucestershire schools of money.

This year schools in Gloucestershire received an average of £3,241 per child. That is £274 less than the national average.

Councillors are worried that the funding crisis could lead to redundancies and rising class sizes.

Chris Coleman, Prospective Lib Dem MP for the Forest of Dean, said:

"Both this government and the previous Conservative one have not provided sufficient funds for our schools. My Liberal Democrat colleagues in Parliament have questioned New Labour Ministers repeatedly over the years but their pleas have fallen on deaf ears. However we won't give up the fight for fair funding until we are successful."
