Quarrying in an AONB

The quarrying and mining industries have been part of our landscape for generations in the Forest of Dean.

The Liberal Democrat candidate to become the next County Councillor for West Dean, Dave Wheeler, recognises that it is the rocks in our area that make West Dean part of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

"Unfortunately, the geology also means that the rock is in demand for road stone and other materials. We must work together to ensure that the impact of essential industry is minimised and that the wonderful landscape is protected as far as possible." said Dave.
